My teller at Bank of America told me about her run at the RC Cola Moon Pie 10-mile run in Bell Buckle, TN on June 21. Judy Melton said that the weather was moderate and overcast. Judy was a Nike employee in an earlier life in North Carolina. She is currently planning on running the Huntsville Marathon in December.
I am in awe that 800 people ran in this event. I have not been to it before. I have heard that the RC and Moon Pies are free. I know there is a popular craft fair afterwards, but who can tolerate walking around a craft fair after a hard 10-mile effort? I found this Blog by Grace
who mentioned chicken biscuits and Snickers Marathon bars. She hung out at the festival for a few hours. I found this 2007 Blog by Melanie.
She also went to the festival afterwards. Is there something else? [Please leave a comment.]
Judy thought she was the only local person running in the race, but I found five others. Ben Strickland’s 6:49 pace is very good. Congratulations to Jerry Miracle who placed third in his age group. Full results here

I chose to run this race mainly because it is one of the few longer distance races in middle Tennessee this summer. This was my first time running it. I found the course both interesting and challenging with its many hills. The refreshments after the race were excellent with much much more available than Moon Pies and RC colas.
