Lewisburg (TN) Recreation Center hosted the inaugural 3 Legged Goat Triathlon to accompany its Goat Festival on October 10, 2015. All eight of the Columbia (and former Columbia) participants were handed a first place trophy with a goat statue. [Jamie Barnett is missing from the picture.] It was a small event with 52 racers, but the race director announced their intentions of doing it next year. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone, and don’t tell them about TriFind.com, and maybe we can come back and sweep it again!
Stephanie Robinette achieved first overall female. Cindy Davis crossed the finish line together with Stephanie, but Steph started 11 seconds after Cindy, which converts to Steph winning by 11 seconds.
Bruce Bonner of Lebanon TN lead the race from the start. Duane Leach started fourth in the time-trial line-up and held onto second position after the swim. Jamie Barnett started considerably later in the line-up and moved up into fourth position by the end of his speedy run. His time was good enough to beat Duane by two seconds on the finish board to achieve second overall (Duane third).
The Rec Center was a nice venue, and the hosts were very welcoming. Running on the golf cart path was a highlight. The down and back bike course on the road toward Culleoka worked nicely, and there were numerous police and fire units at each intersection. The 6-lane swimming pool was converted into 8 lanes to get 200 yards out of it. That worked well enough, but a little too narrow in a places for passing.
Race Day Events did an excellent job scoring the race with chips, and the full results are HERE. Big thanks to Cindy Davis for the above picture collage (lifted from her Facebook).
